4 Simple Self Care Ideas

When I think of self care, the main things that immediately come to mind are a bubble bath, a cup of tea, exercise etc. Those are all absolutely great things to add to your self care ritual but I wanted to add in a few, not so obvious, ideas to start implementing to your routine too! Here are 4 small things you can start sprinkling into your daily routine for ultimate self care!

  1. Cook or prepare something beautiful to eat.

It doesn't HAVE to be a whole ass meal. It can even be a small snack. Add colorful fruits and veggies to "beautify" your snack. One of my go to snacks is a rice cake with tuna, I add sliced grape tomatoes to add some color! Having a salad? Add shredded carrots or bell peppers to spice it up; prepare it in a mason jar instead of a standard bowl. Give it a shake and enjoy your salad in a new way!

2. Do a 5-10 minute pick up or clean up around the house everyday.

Need some motivation? Create a "pick up playlist" of music. Choose 3-5 songs and commit to cleaning up or picking up until the playlist ends! Spending just a little time everyday doing this will help you still ahead and make those "big" cleaning days far less difficult. BONUS: It's a great way to get in some extra steps and burn a few extra calories too!

3. Pick a screen free activity to help you unwind and relax.

Snuggle and play with your pet, take a long shower, apply lotion to your whole body, brush your hair, journal or read, meditate or stretch.

4. Create an "I DID" list as well as a "to-do" list everyday.

A to-do list is important to help you plan and tackle your day. But an "I DID" list, is a game changer. Every night, add everything you did that day. Did you take a shower? Add it. Spend 5 minutes intentionally breathing? Add it. Stop for gas? Add it. You'll be amazed at how much you get done even on those days you feel like you were "lazy or unproductive." Pat yourself on the back, you're doing great!
