Our recent Mexico vacation!

Where we went, what we ate and what we spent!

I want to start by saying this was my second trip to the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun. I have nothing but good things to say! The service is absolutely phenomenal. The food is good. The resort is clean and luxurious. I will return to this resort again!

Where we stayed:

Moon Palace Cancun is split into 2 different resorts, but both are accessible by walking on the beach or by golf cart (which are running all day from the lobby to bring you wherever you'd like to go).

Moon Palace Sunrise- This is, in my opinion, more of a touristy resort. It holds far more people so more people stay there, obviously. The reason we didn't choose Sunrise was because of the crowds and, to be honest, the amount of kids. Sunrise has more kid friendly activities like water sides, flowriding etc. HOWEVER- we thought that Sunrise had the best restaurants overall, so we walked from our resort down the beach for lunch and dinner 2 of the days we were there. They also have a beautiful sky bar where we had drinks on our last night. PS: they have a night club called NOIR here, but we aren't huge club people.

Moon Palace Nizuc- this is where we stayed and where I stayed on my previous visit to moon palace. Nizuc is the original resort built almost 30 years ago. We really enjoyed how quiet it was and we felt like royalty because the servers and bartenders had more time to cater to and spoil us. We also got to know several members of the staff because we had time to sit and chat with them at the swim up bar. The pool at Nizuc is, in my opinion, the prettiest. Most members of the staff have been there for 15+ years and could speak great English too.

We stayed in one of the Superior Deluxe Ocean Front Suites and it was beautiful! We had a king size bed, jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room with views of the ocean, huge walk in shower, balcony AND a liquor dispenser. Yes, I'm serious. We had 4 bottles of liquor with taps IN OUR ROOM that were included with our all inclusive stay. The mini fridge was stocked daily with waters, sodas and beers also included in our stay. There was also a bottle of wine waiting for us in the room upon arrival.

What we paid: We paid a total of $2,560 for 5 nights/6 days. We opted for all inclusive (there is an option to do it without). We had 24 hour room service, all food, drinks and top shelf alcohol were included. Room Service came daily and restocked the room completely. The only other charge we accumulated at the resort was an excursion. Which was only $200 for both of us! We went on a catamaran to two private islands, snorkeling in the ocean and all food and alcohol was included. You can book your excursions, golf or spa visits at anytime while at the resort, there are stations for this in the lobby.

We also spent around $500 in cash on tips. Obviously this is optional but we like to tip well, especially for great service.

Our flights were covered because I have a Delta American Express card that accumulates points for delta flights! I saved my points and we flew Comfort class from Asheville to Atlanta and Atlanta to Cancun. Total of around 3.5 hours on planes. 50 minutes to Atlanta and around 2.5 hours to Cancun.

Where we ate: In the Atlanta airport we had a long layover so we had breakfast and mimosas at the Braves Bar- super gooooood.

At the resort we had room service breakfast the first 3 mornings and the other 2 mornings we ate at Manglar Buffet at our resort (Nizuc) The breakfast buffet is huge and has tons of options.

Lunch

We had tacos, burgers or pizza by the pool or walked down to the Sunrise resort.

Asadero (Sunrise) outdoor buffet with ocean views

Smoked (Sunrise) Tex-Mex BBQ buffet (SO GOOD)

Dinner:

Pelicanos (Nizuc) outdoor Mediterranean with views of ocean and live music.

Pier 8 (Sunrise) upscale seafood ocean side.

Manglar (Nizuc) indoor buffet

MoMo's 9 (sunrise) Japanese hibachi

Dessert:

There is a DELISH coffee and sweets place at Nizuc near the lobby. They offer pastries, gelato, macaroons and more!

Cancun Airport:

We grabbed lunch at Bubba Gump's

Other fun: Cole played golf one day at the golf course and saw monkey, deer and even an alligator!

Nizuc has a pretty sweet putt putt course that we played.

The Pub bar at Nizuc has live music at night, pool table, darts and tons of couches for lounging.

Every night there is a show at the Nizuc pool (there is one water slide at Nizuc pool too)

During the day there is a dj at the pool and they offer exercise classes in the pool as well! (Ya girl took drunken aqua zoomba and nearly died of laughter)

What we wish we would have brought:

More sunscreen! HAHA! The UV index is no joke and it's not crazy to go through an entire bottle of sunscreen in a day. The gift shop offers it but it's around $27 a bottle!!!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Everything you could ever want or need is catered to you in such a fun and exciting way! The customer service is UNREAL! 100% recommend.
